Testing Air Sterilization Filters
As the manufacturer of all Domnick microBAN air sterilization filter cartridges, our parent company, Walker Filtration Ltd., based in the United Kingdom, is committed to producing only the most efficient, cost effective, micro-filtration products.
Product testing is an essential part of the manufacturing and quality control process. Prior to dispatch each and every MICROBAN® air sterilization cartridge undergoes an integrity test to ensure it meets and exceeds product technical specification.
Used for more than 25 years during the manufacturing process, the sterile air filter cartridges are integrity tested using an industry recognized aerosol challenge. This testing method involves challenging filter cartridges with a cloud of virus and bacteria size particles having a concentration at least 10,000 times higher than that normally found in compressed air. Sophisticated instrumentation and a highly trained engineering team ensure only cartridges that demonstrate 100% retention of the virus and bacteria size test aerosol, are moved from production to packaging and dispatch.
Instrumentation sensitivity and the importance of test aerosol particle size cannot be understated. The aerosol test cloud will pass through even the most minute product defect. During testing, a photometer constantly checks the quality of the air passing through the MICROBAN® cartridge. This gives us the confidence to guarantee that every MICROBAN® cartridge will sterilize compressed air (and other gases) or make a perfect sterile storage tank vent filter.
Why Use A Photometer?
To accurately establish the filtration efficiency of an ultra high efficiency air filter cartridge, an integrity test employing a photometer is recognized and used by filtration research establishments worldwide. There can be no compromise when supplying filter cartridges for critical applications such as air sterilization. All Domnick microBAN air sterilization filter cartridges are subjected to and must pass a state of the art photometric integrity test.
